Skincare and quality of life among older residents living in Japanese nursing homes

This study aimed to clarify the practices of skincare such as bathing, face-washing, and using products, among older adults living in nursing homes Japan. From July August 2017, questionnaire surveys were mailed 343 long-term care facilities one prefecture Japan, 105 returned survey. Management policies on use facial products was significantly associated with number resident/caregiver ratio. Meanwhile, residents higher numbers caregivers washed their faces bathed at lower rates. There no correlations between ratio, bathing times. When could not independently perform skin cleansing care, that is likely happen less often. Sufficient manpower for support residents’ will improve quality life facilities.
